Effect of temperature on pyrolysis of sewage sludge: biochar properties and environmental risks from heavy metals

چکیده
Biochars were prepared via the pyrolysis of sewage sludge at temperatures ranging from 350–550 °C. The properties and behaviors heavy metals in biochars investigated. results indicated that pH values ash contents increased, while biochar yield C, H, N decreased with increasing temperature. A high temperature contributed to a developed pore structure. specific surface area volume average width decreased, Heavy further enriched TCLP tests demonstrated leaching potential significantly temperature, indicating decrease ecological risks environment. Additionally, BCR confirmed transformation mobile fractions (F1 F2) stable (F3 F4). evaluation showed can effectively inhibit biochars. Thus, conversion into is promising method for safe disposal sludge.

Nutrients and Heavy Metals in Biochar Produced by Sewage Sludge Pyrolysis: Its Application in Soil Amendment
The production of sewage sludge has been sharply increasing by municipal sludge treatment plants in China. Sewage sludge is a difficult waste to manage not only due to the high quantities produced but also due to its high concentration of heavy metals and pathogens. The pyrolytic conversion of sewage sludge to biochar and then applied to the land is a sustainable management potion. Therefore, t...
متن کاملSewage Sludge Biochar: Physicochemical Properties and Fractionation of Zinc and Lead Metals
One of the significant factors affecting biochar properties is the pyrolysis temperature. This study aimed to investigate the effect of pyrolysis temperature on the properties and fractionation of Zn and Pb in biochars produced by sewage sludge. Biochars were prepared at temperatures of 300 to 700 °C and the physicochemical properties, availability, and fractionation of Zn and Pb were investiga...
متن کاملInhibition of the bioavailability of heavy metals in sewage sludge biochar by adding two stabilizers
Agricultural application of sewage sludge (SS) after carbonization is a plausible way for disposal. Despite its benefits of improving soil fertility and C sequestration, heavy metals contained in sewage sludge biochars (SSB) are still a concern. In this study, two types of heavy metal stabilizers were chosen: fulvic acid (FA) and phosphogypsum (with CaSO4, CS, as the main component). The two st...
متن کاملRemoval of Heavy Metals from Urban Sewage Sludge Using Acidophilic Thiobacillus ferrooxidans
Background & objectives: The presence of heavy metals in urban sewage sludge limits its use as a soil modifier. The purpose of this study was to remove heavy metals (Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb) from urban sewage sludge using Acidophilic Thiobacillus ferrooxidans bacteria. Methods: In this experimental study, the sludge samples were collected from Shiraz wastewater treatment plant. Bioleaching tests were...
متن کاملDistribution and Contamination Hazards of Heavy Metals in Solid Residues from the Pyrolysis and Gasification of Wastewater Sewage Sludge
most of the targeted heavy metals (hms) in sewage sludge ended up in solid residues after pyrolysis and gasification, such as Cu, Zn, Cr, Ni and Pb, which their residual rates were over 70%. The bioavailability of the hms in residues decreased despite their concentrations being higher compared with in sludge. The potential eco-toxicity of each HM were ceased after pyrolysis and gasification of ...
